Alan L. Gagnon
HANCOCK & PORT RICHEY, Fla. - Alan L. Gagnon, 85, formerly of Hancock and now residing in Port Richey, Fla., died on August 4, 2010 at HPH Hospice House in Hudson, Fla.
He was born in Chassell on January 29, 1925 to the late John and Mabel (Landry) Gagnon. He attended school in Hancock, later retiring from the Houghton County Road Commission after more than 40 years of service.
During WWII, Alan served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He married Mildred Ruzich on November 28, 1946.
He was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Richey and previous member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Dean; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Gagnon.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred, in Florida; two sons, Gerald of Dollar Bay and Thomas (Tammy) of Blackhawk, Colo.; four daughters, Michele “Mikki” Gagnon of Hancock, Mary Jo (Steve) Burbey of Menasha, Wis., Sue (Bernie) DeNitto of Savannah, Ga., and Margaret (Larry) Bezotte of Tigerton, Wis.; a sister, Mary Lou (Floryan) Wercinski of Rabbit Bay; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a memorial mass at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock on Friday, September 3, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Augustin George to officiate.
Cremation and burial have taken place in Florida.
