Charles E. Klingbeil

Houghton: Charles E. Klingbeil, 52, of 104 East South Avenue in Houghton, passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 due to a heart condition.

     He was born in Hancock on November 2,1965 to the late Nancy A. Klingbeil (Lucchesi). He attended Houghton Schools and graduated from Houghton High School. He then attended Northern Michigan University and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education.

     Chuck was devoted to his family. He brought so much joy to his mother, his aunt and to his grandparents, Mary and Leo Lucchesi. Growing up he developed a deep love of sports. He participated in track, hockey and football. However, football is where he found his true passion. Early on he had his eye on professional football and never lost focus. Hard work and dedication provided him a career in the CFL (Saskatchewan Roughriders) and in the NFL (Miami Dolphins). So many friends and family supported and enjoyed his career. He shared his dream with so many. After professional football, Chuck turned to coaching. During his coaching at Michigan Technological University, Finlandia University, and many football camps, he shared his knowledge of the game. He expected a hard work ethic and players had great respect for his knowledge and dedication. When Chuck walked in, his friends and family were ready for laughs and shenanigans. Chuck made so many friends along his path of life and was willing to help others before himself. He will be greatly missed.

     He is survived by his wife, Doreen Klingbeil of Houghton; his aunt Jeanne (Al) Scargall of Lake Linden; by cousins: Jennifer Scargall, Sara (Zach) Poag, Molly Scargall, Michael Scargall, and Anthony Scargall; and by numerous relatives.

     The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Friday, June 29, 2018 at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton with Reverend Father John Martignon to officiate. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

     Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:30 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. before the mass.
