Roger Masters Obituary

Hancock: Roger P. Masters, 85, a long-time resident of Hancock, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital in Wausau, Wisconsin following an illness of several months.
    He was born in Hancock on June 6, 1933 to the late John and Irene (Laurin) Masters, later graduating from Hancock High School. He was employed at several local businesses, eventually retiring from Michigan Tech University.
    On May 24, 1966, he was united in marriage to the former V. Kay McCarthy.
    Roger was a local sports supporter and fan, and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Lions, and Red Wings. He was also an avid reader. 
    Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Russell, Jack, and Douglas Masters, and a sister, Shirley Masters.
    He is survived by his wife, Kay of Hancock; a brother Ronald of Houghton, a sister, Joan (Tom) Gibson of Tiffin, Ohio; a special brother-in-law, Robert McCarthy of Hancock; in-laws Pat and Don, and Marlene and George; a special nephew, Tom McCarthy (Jennifer Kane) and a special niece, Kerry Merschdorf who visited him daily during his hospital stays; and by several other nieces and nephews.
    As requested by the deceased, there will be no public visitation and services will be private. Spring burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
    Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to Little Brothers~friends of the Elderly, 527 Hancock St., Hancock, MI 49930 or to the Copper Country Humane Society, PO Box453, Houghton, MI 49931.
