Ruth Neher

Hancock: Ruth J. Neher, 75, of Hancock, formerly of Senter Location, passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at U.P. Health System-Portage Hospital.

     She was born at her family home in Senter to the late Joseph and Ingrid (Engman) Neher on December 21, 1943. She was a 1962 graduate of Dollar Bay High School and later graduated from Northern Michigan University in 1966. She then served for 2 years in Viet Nam with the American Red Cross. She was later employed with the Social Security Administration in Chicago, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. After retirement she returned to Senter and later to  her current residence in Hancock.

     Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Pat Lassen. She is survived by her son, Michael Neher of Madison, WI; granddaughters Sophie, Vivian, and Harper; a sister, Marcia Neher; a niece Janet; a great-nephew, Derek; and by many cousins.

     At the request of the deceased, there will be no service at this time, but a gathering will be held in the summer.
