Painesdale/Quincy Hill:  Anthony Paul Bonini, 69, of Franklin Township on Quincy Hill and Painesdale, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain.

     He was born on January 25, 1948 in Hancock to the late Ambrose J. and Olga S. Bonini and was a graduate of Hancock High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War for three years.

      During his lifetime he was a professional welder, working at the Ontonagon Ship Yard for a time and at Anderson Welding in Chassell for many years. He enjoyed his time at the family camp in the Huron Mountains, hiking and being outdoors.

     Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ambrose Bonini, Jr.; a daughter, Kathy Jean Bonini; and a grandchild, Zander Bonini.

     He is survived by his children: Mary Baker, Anthony (Melanie) Bonini, Annie (Eric) Dohnert, and Christopher Bonini; brothers George (Rosalie) Bonini, Michael (Robin) Bonini, and Robert (Kathy) Bonini; sisters: Caroline (Harry) Erkkila, Mary Ann (Walt) Anderson, Rose (Paul) Hermanson, Barbara Rickard, Patricia (William) Carbine, and Lorraine Bonini; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock with Rev. Fr. William Ssozi to officiate. Burial with military honors conducted by the Copper Country Veterans Association will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock following a lunch at the church.

     Friends may call at the church from 10 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. before the mass on Tuesday. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center “Hospice Ward”, 325 East H Street, Iron Mountain, MI 49801 in the name of Anthony Bonini.
