Barbara Ann McDowell Obituary

Barbara Ann McDowell (born Apple) passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, in Houghton, Michigan. Born on June 30, 1942, in Piqua, Ohio, Barbara lived a life centered around family and faith.

Her deep-rooted devotion to her church community was a constant source of strength and joy. Barbara was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton and had previously been part of the congregation at First Lutheran Church of Parkersburg, West Virginia. Her faith was a guiding light that touched the lives of many.

Barbara shared 38 years of marriage with her husband, Gary McDowell, who preceded her in death 25 years prior. Together they built a close-knit family that continues to honor their legacy. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Lisa (Kent) Berry and son Scott (Darcy) McDowell. Barbara’s memory also lives on through her grandchildren: Joshua (Amanda) Berry, Jessi (Chuck) McPeek, and Aedan (Julia) McDowell. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of five great-grandchildren: Riley, Harper, Keira, Kenzie, and Caroline.

Barbara’s life was defined by quiet strength, enduring love, and steadfast faith. Her warmth and kindness leave a lasting imprint on those who knew her. May Barbara’s memory bring comfort and peace to all whose lives she touched.
