Doris Peltier Obituary

Houghton: Doris Helen Peltier, 66, of Houghton, passed away at U.P Health System-Marquette after an accidental fall on August 24, 2021.

Doris was born on November 15, 1954 in Hancock to the late Elmira and Lawrence Peltier, later graduating from Hancock High School in 1972. Following graduation, she became the first woman to ever work in the packing department at Vollwerth Sausage and Company in Hancock. She worked there for 17 years until health issues forced her to retire.

Doris was a very fun-loving lady and she was loved by many. She will be greatly missed.

Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by 4 sisters: Theresa “Ann” Mikkola, Leona “Jeanie” Peltier, Kathy Johnson, and Patricia Barroga; 2 brothers: Lawrence Peltier, Jr. and Hubert Peltier; a life-long friend, Isabelle Rule; and a nephew, Joe Johnson.

She is survived by a sister, Irene Edgar of Hancock; 3 brothers: Francis Peltier of Indiana, George Peltier of Houghton, and Bob (Marian) Peltier of Dollar Bay; a special niece, Wendy (James) Wakeham and a very special niece, Kelsey Raytio; and by numerous other nieces and nephews.

At the request of the deceased a graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock, Section 13, with Reverend Father Jubish Joseph of the Church of the Resurrection to officiate. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.
