Hancock: Eunice R. (LaMothe) Wagner, age 95, passed away on August 2, 2015 at the Franklin House in Portage Pointe, where she had been a resident for the past month.
Eunice was born in Hubbell, Michigan on February 5, 1920. She was the eighth of 11 children born to Joseph and Vitaline (Benard) LaMothe. She attended St. Cecilia grade school in Hubbell and graduated from Dollar Bay High School in 1937. She worked for the City of Hancock for several years. After her marriage to Ben P. Wagner on April 14, 1941, she worked as secretary-treasurer of the Houghton County Advertising Agency.
She was a long-time member of the former Altar Society and St. Anne’s Society of the now Resurrection Parish. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #186. She served as vice-president of the St. Vincent de Paul Conference in Hancock, plus served as a Committee Chair and worked as a volunteer in the store for over 20 years. Additionally, she volunteered in the Gift Shop at Portage View Hospital for many years. She enjoyed both bowling and golfing as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, husband-Ben; and son-James; as well as her brothers: Michael, Rev. Gerard, David, George and Ray; plus her sisters: Inza Frenette, Adeline, Sister Marguerite OSF and Sister Mary Claire OSF.
Surviving are: one son-Michael and 3 daughters-Diane, Marjorie (Terry) Dickinson and Michele (James) Massoglia; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; plus many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by one sister-Sister Ruth OSF.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 4, 2015, at The Church of the Resurrection in Hancock with Rev. Fr. William Ssozi to officiate.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. The O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock is in charge of arrangements.
