George Peltier Obituary

Houghton: George Joseph Peltier, 74, of the Douglas House Apartments in Houghton, passed away at U.P Health System-Portage on May 27, 2022.

George was born on September 22, 1947 in Hancock to the late Elmira and Lawrence Peltier, later graduating from Hancock High School. Following graduation, he worked as a cook at Gino's Restaurant and for most of his life he cooked at Armando's and then at the Douglas House Restaurant until his retirement.

Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by 5 sisters: Theresa “Ann” Mikkola, Leona “Jeanie” Peltier, Kathy Johnson, Patricia Barroga, and Doris Peltier; 2 brothers: Lawrence Peltier, Jr. and Hubert Peltier; and 2 nephews, Joe Johnson and Tyrne Mikkola.

He is survived by a sister, Irene Edgar of Hancock; 2 brothers: Francis Peltier of Indiana and Bob (Marian) Peltier of Dollar Bay; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

At the request of the deceased a graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton, with Reverend Father Jubish Joseph of the Church of the Resurrection to officiate. There will be no visitation or services at the funeral home.
