Jean Ann Barnes

Houghton: Jean Ann Barnes, 82, of Arbor Green in Houghton, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2022 at her home.

Jean was born in Hancock on July 22, 1940 to the late Bernard J. and Bertha A. (Burger) Barnes. She attended Saint Ignatius School in Houghton. She worked for a time at Nelson's Restaurant in Houghton, but she was known mainly was a baby sitter for different families for many years.

Jean was a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton. She enjoyed knitting sweaters, scarves, mittens, and other items. She also liked to work on various types of puzzles.

She is survived by a brother, Ronald (Olga) Barnes of Waukesha, Wisconsin; 2 sisters: Mary (Paul) Fritz of Winter, Wisconsin and Barbara (Merlin) Wilson of Tecumseh, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton with Rev. Father John Martignon to officiate.
