Frenchtown Location: Marjorie M. Symons, 95, of Frenchtown Location, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 14, 2016.

     Marjorie was born on December 8, 1920 at the old St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock, the daughter of the late Thomas and Jessie (Marks) Maunder. She attended the Quincy School and graduated from Hancock High School in 1937. She also attended Soumi College (now Finlandia University) in Hancock.

     On August 12, 1944 Marjorie married Glen E. Symons at the Pewabic Methodist Church. They were married for over 66 years when Glen passed away on May 25, 2011.

     Marjorie was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Hancock, was membership secretary for many years, and was a volunteer secretary for 50 years. She was past president of the United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the Administrative Board. Marge also held a women's Tuesday morning bible study at her home for over twenty years, and sang in the church choir for 68 years.

     Marjorie was a life member and past matron of the Trillium Chapter Order of Eastern Star.

     Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Rev. Leonard Maunder and Chester Maunder, and a brother-in-law, Everett (Bette) Symons, and other relatives.

     She is survived by several nieces and nephews including Dr. Richard (Karen) Maunder of Bend, OR, Steven (Marcia) Maunder of Monterey, CA, Thomas (Irma) Maunder of Petaluma, CA, David Maunder of Vacaville, CA, Michael (Monica) Maunder of Vacaville, CA, and John (Valerie) Maunder of Kent, England. Also surviving are two great nieces, Susan (John) Pfanner of Eugene, OR and Catherine (Ed) Santopadre of Vacaville, CA, and a special friend and helper, Judy Monticello of Ripley.

     Marge will be greatly missed by her relatives and many, many friends.

     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Lindenberg to officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton. Friends may call at the church for an hour before the services.

     The O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home of Hancock is assisting with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church, Organ Restoration Fund, 401 Quincy Street, Hancock, MI 49930.
