Mary E. Thebo

Houghton: Mary E. Thebo, 97, formerly of Houghton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at her home in Surprise, Arizona.

     Mary was born on May 9, 1922 in Houghton, Michigan to the late Claude and Ivy Voght. She met Chuck Thebo while he was attending Michigan Tech. After returning from World War II where Chuck served in the U.S. Navy, they were married on September 8, 1945. They were blessed with five children, Jack (Rose) Thebo, Bill Thebo, Don (Judy) Thebo, Mike (Mary Jo) Thebo, and Sue (Paul) Chester.

     Upon Chuck's retirement in 1981, they spent the next twenty years between their cottage at Twin Lakes and Arizona.

     Preceding her in death were her husband and brothers, Jack, Bill, and Ed Voght.

     She will be greatly missed by her five children, nine grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren and other family members. Mary had a love for life and was a very giving person.

     Visitation for Mary will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at the O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home in Hancock.

     The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. On Friday, August 30, 2019 at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton with Reverend Father John Martignon to officiate. A luncheon will be served after the services. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.

     Her family thanks everyone for the outpouring of love, support, and shared memories.
