Mildred Gagnon Obituary

Hancock: Mildred Gagnon, 93, formerly of Hancock and Florida, passed away on May 19, 2018 in Savannah, Georgia.

     She was born on March 25, 1925 in Painesdale to the late George and Kristina (Fak) Ruzich. She was a graduate of Jeffers High School and St. Joseph School of Nursing Class of 1945. She was employed at St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock and then at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility until her retirement.

     She was married to Alan L. Gagnon in November of 1946. He preceded her in death in 2010.

     Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” and Karen (Bischoff) Gagnon and by siblings George, John, Joseph, Edward, Eva, Marie, Sofie, Janet, Georgiana, Margaret, Kristina, Joanna, and Kathryn.

     She is survived by her children: Michele Gagnon of Hancock, Mary Jo (Steve) Burkey of Kaukauna, WI, Thoma (Tammy) Gagnon of Black Hawk, CO, Sue DeNitto of Midway, GA, and Margaret Bezotte of Shawano, WI; a sister, Josephine Fuller of FL; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

     Cremation has taken place with a private family service to be held at a later date. Interment will be with her husband at the Florida National Cemetery in Buchnell, Florida.

     Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to Copper Country Senior Meals (Meals on Wheels) or to St. Vincent DePaul in Hancock in the name of Mildred Gagnon.
