Nancy L. "Nicky" Caspary

Ripley: Nancy L. “Nicky” Caspary, 78, a former Ripley resident, passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Woodland Haven unit of Canal View Houghton County in Hancock.

She was born on April 14, 1942 at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Hancock to George H. and Bernice M. (Poisson) Nicholson. Following graduation from Hancock High School, she attended an art school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for two years. She was best known as the owner of the Calico Cat Ceramic Shop, which she opened in 1976 and operated until 2015. She was known for her love of animals, especially cats, dogs, and ferrets. She was also a huge Detroit Red Wings fan.

Nicky was married to William T. Caspary on May 5, 1961.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Nicholson, and her husband, William.

She is survived by her mother, Bernice Nicholson of Hancock; her children Kelly (Burt) Arola of Dollar Bay, Leanne (Jeff) Ingles of Rockford, Michigan, and Danielle (Frank) Hawthorne of Hancock; and grandchildren Stephan Caspary of Hancock, Kate (Dan) Monti of Milan, Michigan, Allison Weidmayer of Milan, Michigan, Gage Hawthorne of Woodbury, Minnesota, Jake Weidmayer of Rockford, Michigan, and Brody Hawthorne of Hancock.

Family services will be held in August. Interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
