Dollar Bay: Verne Alyce Isaacson, 91, of Dollar Bay, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 following a brief illness.
She was born to Albert and Rosalie Quasius on September 27, 1926 in Ripley where she fondly remembered growing up.
On November 29, 1947 she married Roy “Orvie” Isaacson at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hancock. They moved to Dollar Bay to raise their ten children. Their door was always open to everyone. No one left their house hungry as the first words from Verne were “Are you hungry?”
Preceding her in death were her husband, a son Daniel, sisters and brothers, and four grandchildren: Shane, Melanie, Nathan, and Dawson.
Surviving are her children Susie (Richard) Stone, Mike (Marie) Isaacson, Lynn (Mike) Leino, Judy (Dale) Odgers, Patti (Mike) Este, Jill Isaacson, Terri Coello, Jim (Amy) Isaacson, Mary (Mike) Faller, and Kevin (Coleen) Isaacson, by 63 grandchildren, and by nieces and nephews.
At Verne's request, private family graveside services will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton.
In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Dollar Bay First Responders, PO Box 112, Dollar Bay, MI 49922 or to the Copper Country Veterans Association, Box 221, Painesdale, MI 49955.
