Houghton: Gloria M. Wade, 89, a longtime resident of Houghton, passed away late on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Cypress Manor in Hancock.

     She was born on February 16, 1926 in Hurontown to the late August and Katherine (Lawlor) Schutz. She attended local schools before she married James D. Wade on June 16, 1945. Together they owned and operated the locally famous B & B Bar in West Houghton. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2003.

     Gloria was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church in Houghton. She loved being with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

     Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael, and four brothers: Donald, Claude, Robert, and Howard Schutz.

     She is survived by a daughter, Mary Janelle (Joe) Siller of Houghton; four sons: Jim (Donna) Wade and Don (Theresa) Wade both of Houghton, Robert “Pete” (Masako) Wade of Japan, and Ron (Karen) Wade of Hancock; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Gladys Schutz of Houghton; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

      A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on February 16, 2016 (her birthday) at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. John Martignon to officiate. Spring interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery of Houghton.

     Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to Little Brothers~Friends of the Elderly, 527 Hancock St., Hancock, MI 49930 in the name of Gloria Wade.
