Hancock: Helen A. Bowden, 82, of Hancock, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
She was born to the late Fred and Ida (Kangas) Zerbst of Houghton on March 28, 1934 and later graduated from Houghton High School in 1952. She was employed by Ed's Grill, the Scott Hotel Dining Room, and then at Michigan Tech University as secretary of the Business School until her retirement.
Helen was married to the late Robert N. Bowden of Hurontown on March 1, 1958. Together they lived at Portage Entry and Hancock. He died on June 25, 2009.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Houghton and the Alston V.F.W. #7646 Auxiliary.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by sisters Katherine, Florence, and Shirley; and brothers Fred, John, Robert, Raymond, Dennis, Jim, and David.
She is survived by two brothers, Michael Zerbst of Hurontown and Donald (Ruth) Zerbst of Ironwood; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
Visitation will be held from 10 A.M. until 11 A.M. on Friday, April 22, 2016 at the O'Neill-Dennis Funeral Home of Hancock followed by private burial services at the Alston Cemetery.
