To the Lancour Family,

I am not sure if you remember me, Carline Lehtola. I was a grade under Steve and you, Emilie. I remember you very well. I always thought you both very nice people although we didn't interact all that much. But I admired you both from far away. I am sorry to hear of your loss. When I came across this announcement, it shocked me. You never expect to hear of a loss of one of your own. May God comfort you and take care of you. And my sympathies are with you.
Your schoolmate,
Carline (Lehtola) Ellis

I am so very sorry to hear of Steve's death. I well remember having Steve, Emilie, and Stacy in my classes at Northern Michigan University in the 1990's. It was such a pleasure to know Steve and to know his wife and sister during those years. I cannot express the depth of the sadness I feel for his family at this time. I know you will all support each other as you grieve his loss and remember the joy of having him with you during his life. Sending much love to you all.

I wish I could be there this evening but, I just got Rick home from MGH as he had a heart attack and I don't want to leave him alone yet. Our prayers are with you all. Love, Rick and Pat

Lancour Family

I was saddened to hear of Steve's passing. I didn't know him but always heard people speak so highly of him. I worked with Doug many years ago. There are no words to give you comfort during this difficult time. May God give all of your family peace and comfort. God Bless you all

To my little cousin Steve::
You left too soon!
I remember holding you and Stacy as babies when we came each summer to visit Grandma and Grandpa. As a youngster, you had the room rolling with your Popeye imitation....yelling "shink-shrink-bong-bong" with muscled arms raised in the air. Family dinners in Grandma's kitchen. Fishing (I didn't catch much, just enough to keep trying) and other stuff sons do with their Dads and Grandpa.

I didn't know you well as an adult -- we only got to see each other a few times in the last 30 years.......1,200 miles will do that. But my sisters and I, Aunt Melisse and Uncle Connie could see what a wonderful family and fine young men you and Emilie have!

Emilie, Michael, Brian, Matthew, Richard, Lois, Stacy, Aunt Julie, and Uncle Doug:
Just know that Steve will always be looking out for you! There are no words eloquent enough to describe how we feel about you. I wish we could be there for you and give you all a hug. We love you!
Andy, Alyssa, Sarah, Tommy and Matt.

When I think back to my childhood, much of it that included various activities with Steve, I cannot think of someone in our age group that I looked up to more than I did him. So as far back as I can remember, he carried with him 3 qualities that are rare for even an adult to carry all 3- patience, tolerance and acceptance. He was just an amazing individual in that regard and of course it led to him becoming a great man. He will be missed by many and for a long, long time. Thoughts and prayers to his entire family, friends and students... I am so very sorry for your loss. God's Peace to you all.

The first time I was with Steve, I didn't know him and he didn't know me. Yet, there he was fixing my flat tire in the school parking lot. I was new at CLK, my first year teaching, and it was September. I didn't have any family or friends (yet) in Calumet., and I was so thankful for his help. I later learned who my saving grace was that day when I met Steve's amazing sister. This is just one story of Steve's graciousness and God-loving spirit. I have no doubts there are many, many more. Sending all my love to my BFF, Emilie, Michael, my boyfriend, Matthew, Doug, and Julie. I pray that you find comfort in these previously untold stories of how your brother, husband, dad, and son left the world a better place.

Doug, Julie, Emilie, and the boys. My family and I are shocked and sadden by the news about Steve. You will be in our prayers. Steve helped us out during a dark time and I will always be grateful for that. His kindness was really the only light at that time. One I could never repay. If the kids and I could do anything for you please let us know.

We are just so very sorry Emilie. You and the boys are in our constant thoughts and prayers. Steve was just simply a kind and wonderful person, and always a joy to talk with. The boys keep talking and remembering about our trip out there, especially Ian, about the boat adventure with Steve and Michael. We will always remember the Tiger games. Love you Em. May God watch over you all and wrap His arms around you and your family. I pray for peace and comfort and strength.

It is still so hard to wrap my mind around this tragic loss. Steve was an incredible human being and we were so blessed to have him as a part of our life. He was loved and will be missed more than words can express. Our kids have both described "Uncle DooDoo" as the funnest guy in the world. Rest easy, Uncle DooDoo. May all who love you be wrapped in God's grace finding comfort and peace knowing we have gained an angel.
